The Great Crusade reaches its zenith on a green-skinned empire's capital world, where the Emperor and his foremost son break the largest alien horde yet faced. In victory the Emperor names that son Warmaster and hands him command of the crusade, then departs for Terra and secret labours of his own. It is the last campaign the Master of Mankind leads in person, and, though none yet know it, the high-water mark before the fall.
